Edge-on-Hudson Is Open for Luxe Living in Sleepy Hollow
On the final resting place of the old General Motors plant bursts a new titan of industry. No longer a quiet and quaint enclave off the Hudson in Westchester, the Sleepy Hollow waterfront is being transformed into a state-of-the-art community for luxe living with the debut of the 1,177-unit Edge-on-Hudson, now open for residential occupancy.
After years of planning and even more ambition, the 70-acre, $1 billion multiuse development spans townhouses, rentals, condominiums, retail, and commercial space. There is even a DeCicco & Sons supermarket being built on the premises.
Built by Toll Brothers, Edge-on-Hudson’s 46 condos (nearly half of which have been sold) range from one to three bedrooms and from 800 to 1,900 square feet. The units are the epitome of sleekness and class, styled like a Downtown Manhattan abode but with the Rivertown charms and green space flourishes of suburbia. The open-concept flow of the units melds the kitchen space, living room, and dining room, while large windows in the bedroom and loft admit tons of natural light. Each building showcases a private gym for residents, a rooftop terrace, and a resident lounge. For the sportier among us, there’s a kayak launch on the premises.
The condos will be taxed by the Village of Sleepy Hollow as single-family homes but at the lower rate for condos and co-ops by the Town of Mount Pleasant. Students living in Edge-on-Hudson can attend the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.
Perhaps the most progressive feature of the sprawling community is the environmentally forward rental experience. Two of the buildings have apartments for rent: Emerson, developed by Toll Brothers, and NorthLight, developed by Hines. The NorthLight is crowned with a solar roof, one of the first rental communities in the county to brandish panels atop its building. Of the 427 residential parking spaces, up to 15% will be electric vehicle charging stations.
Development of the community — which won the 2021 National Association of Home Builders Gold Award for Multifamily Community of the Year — is ongoing.
