What to Expect at the DeCicco & Sons Sleepy Hollow Store

If you’ve ever shopped at a DeCicco & Sons, you know it’s no ordinary grocery store. This family-owned local chain has consistently served up an elevated shopping experience, from their always-fresh produce and excellent hot food bar to unique in-store beer pubs. Their 11th location, which opened in March at 1 Legend Drive, features updated menu items, a larger selection of house-baked goods, innovative sandwich options, and more. We met up with father-and-son owners John DeCicco Sr. and Chris DeCicco for an aisle-by-aisle tour of everything that’s new and noteworthy.
Smoked Sandwiches
One of the coolest features exclusive to the Sleepy Hollow store is the smoked sandwich machine in the deli section. Choose from three sandwich options—Italian roast beef, Tuscan turkey, or the vegetarian Puglia Garden—and a staff member will throw it in the smoker for $1.50 extra. You even have the choice of what wood is used—hickory (sweet and hearty) or mesquite (applewood flavor).
Fresh-Sliced Pineapple
At this DeCiccos, you can select a whole pineapple from the produce section and have it cut and ready to eat in 15 seconds. Place a container inside one of the slicing machine’s chutes and put your pineapple in the other. Tap a button and watch as your fruit is peeled and perfectly sliced.
Super Smoothies
This year the franchise introduced three new flavors—Blueberry Cobbler, Strawberry Swirl, and the Headless Horseman, made with mangoes and fresh orange juice. These options, along with DeCicco’s fresh-squeezed juice bar, are available year-round at all locations.
More Sweet Treats
An expanded bakery section at this location has store-baked cakes—like their rainbow cookie cakes and cheesecakes—plus breads, croissants, and desserts from The Snackery in Rye.

Scare Tactics
Chris DeCicco dreamed of decorating the second floor pub area with memorabilia from the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow. He spent years searching eBay for costumes which are on display. Other spooky touches: coat hangers and the bar’s beer tap that feature a silhouette of the Headless Horseman. Also unique to this location is The Hollows, a pub kitchen that serves up smash burgers, pizzas, and a Calabrian Chili Chicken Sandwich, which Chris says is his personal fave.
